The Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking disqualification of former PML-N MNA Mian Javed Latif over a fake degree. The single bench comprising Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan had reserved the verdict after hearing arguments of both parties.
The petition was filed by Sajjad Hussain submitting that former MNA Mian Javed Latif, who was elected from NA-133 in 2008, had received his BA degree through impersonation. He contended that the respondent did not qualify as per conditions set in Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution. He pleaded the court to disqualify the respondent. However, the respondent’s counsel submitted that the allegations were baseless, therefore, the petition should be dismissed
