After commencement of reconstruction of the Bhit Gas Field, CNG stations across the province of Sindh will remain closed for three days a week during April.
According to All Pakistan CNG Association sources, schedule for CNG closure was expected to fall on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
It is important to mention here that the schedule for gas closure had been marked by abruptness with sudden notices appearing from nowhere, which in turn greatly disturbed the everyday activities of the citizens. Furthermore, extremely high number of CNG consumers, including heavy vehicles and large number of filling stations made it mandatory for the government to ensure a constant supply of the utility to filling stations.
Cases in the court relating to the issue have been filed and heard in the past, with CNG regulatory and providing bodies sometimes agreeing to a joint formula, which had unfortunately not been implemented in letter and spirit so far.
It required restricting the utility to 1,000CC cars and domestic consumers to ensure lasting and manageable supply of CNG.
