Walking track of Nawaz Sharif Park in shambles

The walking track of Nawaz Sharif Park is in such a poor condition that women, children and the elderly avoid walking on the track because a major part of the track has been occupied by a nursery which is located on the same road, adjacent to the park.

A run around the track is an impossible task because runners are forced to break their speed several times due to the muddy water which is accumulated on various places of the track; near children’s play area, adjacent to water tanks and adjacent to newly occupied cricket club area.

The nursery of Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) has destroyed the beauty of the park as heaps of broken vases and garbage can be seen every few meters.

Talking to APP, many visitors were of the view that almost the entire track has been destroyed. Over a dozen vehicles of Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) are parked on the walking track of the park which is adjacent to the Agriculture Colony Gate.

Owing to the dilapidated condition, people prefer to walk on the adjacent grass track. Even a light rain forces regular walkers to stay home.

A major part of the walking track adjacent to Agricultural University Hostel has recently been occupied by a cricket club which has encroached on to the track.

It is not possible for women to take serene walk on this portion of the track due to the presence of dozens of people playing and watching cricket around the clock.

Saima, a regular visitor to the park, said she has stopped walking due to the presence of a large number of cricketers on the track.
