As the inter telephonic exchange of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) have become dysfunctional, the Departmental Working Committee (DWC) has decided to install a new exchange at the cost of Rs 44 million on a priority basis.
According to sources, telephone exchange of the hospital had collapsed due to overload as telephone connections of Burn Centre, Cardiac Centre and new blocks were also added to it.
Telephone sets in different blocks and wards of the hospital would also be changed.
The Planning Commission has approved the project, though the expenses for the installation of the exchange would be paid from the funds already allocated to the medical complex.
