Disconnected electricity supply to CDA troubles residents

Electricity of municipal administration offices of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) located in Sector G-7 could not be restored on Sunday despite the passage of three days, creating trouble for the residents of the federal capital.

The civic authority has not paid the electricity bill to Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO), therefore, the company had disconnected electricity supply to the municipal offices. Owing to the situation, most of the functions of the offices were stopped and the residents had to return home without getting their work done.

The officials of the civic body told INP that the system of issuing death and birth certificates had been computerised, which had also become dysfunctional due to lack of electricity.

Zahoor Rashid, a resident of Sector I-8, said that his father died 15 days ago and he needed to get his death certificate. He said he had completed all the requirements to get the death certificate, including fee submission, but still could not get the certificate as the concerned officials said that all computers were non-functional due to electricity disconnection.

The officials said that the wireless of the fire brigade, whose office is in DMA offices of the civic body, was also dysfunctional as it had no alternative source of power.

Residents demanded CDA high-ups to resolve the problem as soon as possible to save them from all the inconvenience.
