Teenager Ariya Jutanugarn surged into the halfway lead at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Agadir with a four-under-par 67 in her second round.

The 17-year-old Thai made five birdies and just a solitary bogey at the 190-yard par-three ninth – the second time she has dropped a shot at the hole this week – to lead by two shots in Morocco.

“The first time I played the practice round I thought the course was very hard and I thought the fairways were too narrow for me, but now I’ve played the first two days, I feel like it’s a lot better,” she told www.ladieseuropeantour.com.

England’s Charley Hull, Lee-Anne Pace of South Africa and American duo Beth Allen and Mallory Fraiche are tied for second overall on four under overall.

Four-time major winner Laura Davies is one shot further back, as is Sweden’s Mikaela Parmlid, who rocketed up the leaderboard with the day’s best round of 66.
