PML-N workers protest over distribution of tickets

Disgruntled workers of the PML-N on Saturday protested outside the party’s Model Town Secretariat against the party’s decision to award tickets to ‘outsiders’.
A large number of workers mainly from Lahore, Sheikhupura and Lodhran took part in the protest when Nawaz Sharif and other party leaders were nominating women candidates for the reserved seats.
To add fuel to the fire, two workers climbed up an electricity pole. Some workers also stopped the car of former provincial minister Dost Muhammad Khosa and aggressively protested against the party’s selection criteria.
Later, party leaders come out to appease the workers.
Talking to reporters, the protesting workers said the party should give top preference to its own workers in awarding tickets to contest elections.
These protests are being sponsored by various groups within the party, showing a division in the party across Punjab.
Meanwhile, Khosa met Nawaz Sharif. In the meeting, Nawaz assured Khosa that he would not take the sons of former president Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari onboard. Khosa was assured that he would be given ticket from the constituency he contested elections in 2008.
