The suicide attack on Peshawar’s Judicial Complex on March 18, 2013 was aimed at getting freed a suspected terrorist, Zahirud Din alias Japani, imprisoned in the Peshawar Central Jail, Pakistan Today has learnt.

Four people had been killed and over 20 injured in the terrorist attack on Judicial Complex.

Highly-placed sources told Pakistan Today that Zahiruddin was to be to brought before the Anti Terrorist Court within the complex on the day the attack occurred.

Accordingly, militants attacked the complex, but for reasons unknown to high ups, Zahir’s appearance before the Anti Terrorist Court was delayed from morning until noon.

The sources said soon after the Judicial Complex terrorist attack, the high ups ordered confining Zahir under Section 3 of MPO for a period of one month within the premises of Central Jail Peshawar and directives in this respect were issued through an official notification by the Peshawar deputy commissioner.

Per official documents, Zahir’s father is named Ziauddin, but he reportedly hails from the Central Asian region. Sources said Zahir was associated with a militant group having strong roots in North Waziristan Agency.

He has been arrested and imprisoned in connection with two FIRs registered with Yakka Toot police station in February 2010.
