Liverpool will step up their chase of Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen in the summer, according to a report.
British tabloid The Sun claims the Reds have been monitoring the Denmark international for more than a year and that a bid of around £15million will be enough to secure the 21-year-old’s signature.
Eriksen’s current contract expires in the summer of 2014 and the Amsterdammers’ director of football Marc Overmars recently said that the player had informed the club he would not be renewing.
“I don’t know if I will be an Ajax player after the summer,” Eriksen was quoted in The Sun as saying.
“I will probably start up training with them and then we will see what happens. I don’t exclude anything.”
The publication believes Liverpool are the favourites to land the starlet despite interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Inter Milan because of the player’s good relationship with fellow Dane and Anfield defender Daniel Agger.
Eriksen is also a former team-mate of Kop idol Luis Suarez when the Uruguayan was captain at Ajax.
