At least 10 people, including two women, were killed and 27 others injured in a suicide attack in one of the most sensitive localities of Peshawar on Friday.
Frontier Constabulary Commandant Abdul Majid Marwat was target of the suicide bomber, however, Marwat escaped the attacks with minor injuries.
Those killed included one each from the armed forces and Frontier Constabulary, while six personnel of the security forces were among the injured.
Per details, FC Commandant Abdul Majid Marwat was on way to office in a convoy in the morning when the bomber targeted the motorcade near Military Police checkpost on Fakhar Alam Road.
The massive explosion was heard cross Peshawar’s Saddar and surrounding areas.
Officials and witnesses present on the occasion said Marwat was survived the attack and was rushed to LadyReadingHospital for minor treatment.
Witnesses said the suicide blast killed at least four people on the spot.
Bilal, a volunteer of Al Khidmat, said two women were among six people killed in the attack.
Doctors at LadyReadingHospital confirmed six casualties and around 18 injuries, while four deaths were confirmed by the CombinedMilitaryHospital.
A number of vehicles and three-wheelers were damaged in the explosion.
The deceased have been identified as Lance Naik Babar of armed forces, Ashfaq of Frontier Constabulary and civilians Anees, Manzoor Hussain and Alamzeb.
The identity of other deceased was yet to be ascertained.
No one has claimed responsibility for suicide attack so far.
Marwat has become the second FC commandant targeted by a suicide bomber. Earlier, in 2011, Sifwat Ghayoor, then FC commandant was killed in a suicide attack.
