Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) has demanded immediate removal of massive encroachments on the roads around Korangi Industrial Area (KIA).
PTA Chairman Gulzar Feroz drew immediate attention of the authorities concerned to this serious issue of encroachments on the Tannery Zone approach roads, a press release said here on Thursday.
He said a large number of oil tankers belonging to a reputable firm were parked daily on the main roads while waiting for their turn to deliver oil to filing stations. At some points on the road, the tankers were parked in double rows on each side of these roads, thus leaving very limited space for a smooth flow of traffic, he added. He also said that this resulted in frequent traffic jams on the main roads and also increased the threat of fatal accidents.
The situation had become very alarming for the industrialists, the people working in the Tannery Zone, doctors and students of Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Center (JPMC) and Hospital and the residents of Sharifabad.
Leading industrialists and business leaders have appealed to the government high-ups to ensure the enforcement of traffic rules and discipline on the above mentioned roads and to provide relief to a large segment of people affected by frequent traffic jams.
