Police checkposts at various points in the federal capital are causing immense inconvenience to commuters, besides contributing to traffic jams.
Security checking results in embarrassment for citizens as anti-terrorist squad personnel and police commandos’ allegedly vex them during search at these points.
There are 72 fixed checkposts in the federal capital, while over 200 unplanned checkposts have also been established on the directives of SSP Yasin Farooq.
On the other hand, Islamabad SSP (operations) has now increased the number of checkposts to 300, excluding the fixed ones. These checkposts do not only disrupt traffic flow but also result in embarrassment to commuters at the hands of policemen.
Sources said that the monthly fuel consumption by patrolling police mobiles has been reduced from 500 litres to 300 litres after the increase in checkposts.
Around 14 terror attacks have taken place in the capital city during the last five years, but Islamabad police failed to stop any suicide bomber or explosive laden vehicle, despite having such a large number of checkposts.
