Pakistan People’s Party leader and former minister for information Qamar Zaman Kaira on Wednesday dispelled the impression given by a section of the media of differences between the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari.
Talking reporters, the PPP leader said the party chairman would be a part of the election campaign.
However, Kaira added that due to security reasons, he will not participate in every public meeting.
To a question, Kaira said Bilawal would not be leading the party’s election campaign due to security threats. He said senior PPP leaders, including former prime ministers Yousaf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Amin Fahim and Nazar Muhamamd Gondal would run the election campaign.
Kaira said the party would start its election campaign on April 4 from Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
Kaira said democratic government had empowered the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct free, fair and transparent elections besides introducing dialogue and tolerance policy and evolving consensus among all stockholders to solve the challenges faced by the country.
Kaira praised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI)’s public gathering in Lahore and recognised the political struggle of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Kaira also urged the media to play a responsible and unbiased role for creating conducive environment to conduct free and fair polls in the country.
