An operation against police personnel illegally occupying around 500 government residential flats in Sector G-6 failed due to the apathy of high ups of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police.
The officials of estate office, accompanied by a heavy contingent of Abapara Police, visited government flats in sector G-6 and asked the illegal occupants to vacate the houses.
When contacted, Estate Officer Falak Sher said that Islamabad High Court (IHC) had ordered eviction of illegal occupants from government flats in Sector G-6 within a week.
“However, in pursuit of the court orders, when the operational team of Estate Office visited the sector, police personnel resisted eviction and threatened them with dire consequences. The operation failed despite the fact that high-ups of the capital police had been informed about the situation,” he added.
It may be noted here that the government flats in G-6 which have been occupied by police personnel, were constructed by the Capital Development Authority in 1997 at a cost of Rs 250 million.
Besides the police, some CDA employees have also occupied these flats.
