Literacy centres set up in Adiala Jail

The Punjab government has established 15 literacy centres in the city, including three centres in Adiala Central Prison, which are aimed at imparting education to inmates and making them good citizens after their release.

On the directives of the Punjab Literacy Secretary Project Director Kulsoom Nawaz, District Education Officer (Elementary) Zahoor Hussain Shah formally inaugurated the education outlets on Wednesday.

Out of the total 15 literacy centres, two centres were set up in women blocks while one was constructed in children’s block of the Adiala Jail.

Moreover, to educate eunuchs, a literacy centre was opened at Punjab Vocational Institute located at Mureer Hassan Road.
