Election Commission of Pakistan Secretary Ishtiak Ahmed Khan on Tuesday said the five-member commission, headed by Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, would visit Quetta on March 28 to persuade the disgruntled Baloch leaders to take part in the upcoming elections.
Talking to reporters, the secretary said commission would hold talks with politicians, including Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Brahamdagh Bugti, adding that the CEC and his team would also discuss security related matters with the law enforcement agencies in the province.
“We will hold talk with Brahamdagh Bugti and Akhtar Mengal and all other disgruntled Baloch leaders to convince them to participate in the elections,” the ECP secretary said, adding that the commission would address the concerns of the Baloch leaders.
To a query, Khan reiterated that the commission would not let anyone delay or sabotage the election process.
“We will take strict action against those, who will attempt to create hurdles in the election process,” he said.
