Rejecting the applications of Naheed Khan and Ghinwa Bhutto, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday registered the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the name of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The ECP rejected the application of Naheed Khan – the right-hand person of slain PPP chairwoman Benazir Bhutto – to register the PPP in her name as her papers were incomplete.
The commission has also allotted Bilawal’s PPP two swords as electoral symbol of the party.
A three-member bench of the commission headed by Justice (r) Riaz Kayani had reserved verdict over the registration of the PPP on Monday.
The ECP also rejected Ghinwa Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party-Shaheed Bhutto’s (PPP-SB) request to register her party as the PPP.
