Clarifying media reports, China on Monday reiterated that the civil nuclear cooperation between China and Pakistan was in compliance with the Nuclear Suppliers Group.
When asked to comment on recent media reports that China had entered into an agreement with Pakistan for building a third nuclear power plant in Chashma, Spokesman Hong Lei said that China had noted the news reports and pointed out that the recent cooperation between China and Pakistan did not violate riles of Nuclear Suppliers Groups.
He further said that in recent years China and Pakistan had carried out some cooperation in the field of civilian nuclear energy.
“All these ventures are for peaceful use,” Hong said, adding that this cooperation was in compliance with international obligations.
