Nomination of Mir Hazar Khan Khoso as caretaker Prime Minister (PM) has been challenged in Supreme Court (SC) Lahore registry.

The petitioner Barrister Zafarullah has taken plea in the petition that it was prerogative of elected representatives to appoint caretaker PM.

It was further said in the petition that Election Commission (EC) was a government institution and its head is also a retired judge while a retired judge has been nominated caretaker PM. Nomination of care taker PM by the committee of a government institution is negation of democratic norms, petition added.

The petitioner prayed the court to nullify sub clause 3 of clause 9 of article 224 of the constitution and withdraw the right of nomination of caretaker PM from EC besides declaring the nomination of the present caretaker PM Mir Hazar Khan Khoso null and void.
