Mandra Police on Sunday arrested a woman, her boyfriend and her mother for the killing of her husband, and recovered the weapon used in the murder which took place two months ago in the limits of Mandra Police Station, police said.
According to details, on January 20th Mandra Police was informed by some locals that there was an unidentified body lying on Chakwal Road on which the duty officer took the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on the complaint of Constable Shafiq.
After three months on March 3, Muhammad Qayyum, a resident of Gujar Khan, informed the police that his 32-year-old son Muhammad Taj had been missing since the last three months. When the police took Qayyum to the morgue, he confirmed that the body was that of his son.
Qayyum, however, did not name anyone in the FIR as he believed that his son had no rival.
Mandra Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Malik Arshad Mehmood started an investigation of the case and interrogated the family members of Taj.
“Some of the answers which Taj’s wife, Azra Bibi, gave were suspicious,” the SHO said.
“Later on in the investigation, Azra Bibi confessed to killing her husband with the help of her boyfriend Imran. Both of them want to get married to each other,” Police said.
After she was arrested, Azra told journalists that her parents had forcefully married her off to Taj one year ago.
“I wanted to marry Imran. Moreover, my husband used to fight with me on minor issues,” Azra said.
Police also arrested Imran, who told the police that Azra forced him to kill Taj.
“I took him to a forest near Gujar Khan where I shot him in the chest and threw his dead body on Chakwal road,” Imran said.
Police also arrested Azra’s mother, Samina Bibi, who was also in the loop during the murder of her son-in-law.
“When I came to know that both of them had killed Taj, I kept quite to save both of them,” she said.
Inspector Malik Arshad said that they had succeeded in tracing a blind murder and all the three accused involved in murder had been arrested.
“A friend of Imran, who helped him to carry the body all the way to Chakwal road will also be arrested soon,” he said.
