10 killed, 40 injured in Jaffarabad auto-rickshaw bomb blast

As many as 10 people were killed and more than 40 others injured in a bomb blast at a bus stand in Jaffarabad on Friday.

According to police, unidentified miscreants parked an explosive laden auto-rickshaw along a road near the bus terminal situated on the Quetta-Dera Allahyar Road in Jaffarabad district.

The massive explosion killed seven people on the spot and left more than 40 others injured.

Three more died at a hospital later.

Police said it was a high-intensity bomb blast that also damaged five shops besides causing causalities and injuries.

The injured were rushed to various hospitals and an emergency was declared in all hospitals of the district.

According to hospital sources, the condition of several injured people was serious and it was feared that the death toll might rise.

Jaffarabad DPO said the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) had estimated that 20kgs of explosives were used in the blast.

Heavy contingents of police and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) cordoned of the area and started a search operation.
