The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Friday withdrew its writ petition filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Balochistan High Court (BHC) verdict over the provincial assembly’s opposition leader.
During the hearing of the petition, Justice Tasaduq Jilani remarked that it was good that the issue had been resolved gracefully.
A divisional bench of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) had rejected an earlier notification by Balochistan Assembly Speaker Matiullah Agha regarding the appointment of Maulana Wasay of the JUI-F and restored Nawabzada Tariq Magsi as the opposition leader in the provincial assembly.
The petitioner, challenging the BHC verdict, had pleaded the apex court that Maulana Wasay should be appointed as speaker of the provincial assembly.
