Completion of constitutional tenure a milestone: Ashraf

Prime Minister (PM) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said Pakistan is an independent, sovereign and democratic country and has achieved a milestone in the form of completion of a constitutional tenure by a democratic government.
In his message on the occasion of Pakistan Day, the
PM said the achievement was a leap forward for the cause of democracy.
“It is now our duty to put the country on the trajectory of development and prosperity, to realise the dream of our forefathers for which they made untiring efforts and rendered exemplary sacrifices,” said Ashraf.
“We are reviving the memory of the Pakistan Resolution at a time when the country heads towards parliamentary elections and the people are eager and resolute for fair, free and transparent polls in the country,” said the premier.
This is exactly what Jinnah had envisaged- democracy to flourish and its fruits delivered to the people, said Ashraf.
He expressed confidence that people will elect the best leadership in the forthcoming polls and use their sound political acumen.
The PM said he would like to reiterate the message of Quaid-e-Azam which he delivered to the nation on 23rd March 1944, in which had asked the nation to go forward full of hope for the coming years, with faith in their hearts and unity in their camps.
He said March 23 is a landmark day in the Pakistan Movement for it marked the beginning of a practical struggle for attainment of Pakistan.
He said the Lahore Resolution, later named as the Pakistan Resolution, was a great demonstration of unity by the Indian Muslims.
The PM said the object of the Muslim struggle was establishment of an independent state where they could freely live an individual and collective life in accordance with their traditions.
