The district government of the federal capital has decided to computerise the registration and certification of births and deaths in the rural areas within one month.
The central database of the record would be linked to the system of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
This was decided in a meeting which was presided over by Deputy Commission (DC) Aamir Ali Ahmed.
On the occasion, the DC said officials of Local Government and Rural Development would complete the computerisation of records within one month. He said death registration fee of Rs 200 would be abolished from April 1 onwards.
However, he added that birth registration fee would be retained, although residents of rural areas of Islamabad could register birth within six months, without paying any fine.
