Railways officials halt construction of college in Bhoosa Colony

Officials of Pakistan Railways (PR) have stopped the construction of Government Boys College Bhoosa Colony Rawalpindi.
Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif approved the construction of the college for the dwellers of the katchi abadi of Bhoosa Colony on 15 kanals of land; however, the construction work could not be started due to a stay order.
After the final decision on the case, the construction work was started but the Assistant Executive Engineer of PR, Shah Nawaz, along with a contingent of police, stopped the work and directed Sub Engineer of Punjab Development Department Chaudhry Sana to solve the issue. Meanwhile, residents of the area held a protest demonstration against the halting the construction. They also chanted slogans against Pakistan Railways officials. When contacted, Assistant Executive Engineer of PR, Shah Nawaz said the work had been stopped on directives from the headquarters.
He said that the construction of the school could not be restarted until evidence of transfer of land for the school was not provided.
