LESCO hires 350 personnel despite ECP ban

The Lahore Electric Supply Company has recruited 350 people in violation of a ban imposed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Sources in the power utility said a notification regarding the fresh inductions has also been issued. Sources said that the recruitments had been carried out at the behest of the federal government without rules and regulations. The notification said that the aforesaid recruitments had been made for 89 days on temporary basis.

A LESCO Human Resource Department official said it had received list of 1700 people from the Water and Power Ministry and Governor’s House for the recruitments. On the other hand, the WAPDA Hydro Union has announced a strike against the illegal hiring.
