Explosion at Jalozai camp claims 12 lives

At least 12 people were killed while 36 others were injured in a bomb blast which occurred in Jalozai camp of Afghan refugees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Nowshera district on Thursday.
Jalozai refugee camp, 35 kilometres southeast of Peshawar, is one of largest refugee camps in Pakistan, holding over 70,000 Afghan refugees from the 1980s Soviet invasion and US-led war in Afghanistan.
Police said the explosion took place in a car parked near the camp, killing at least 12 people, including women and children and leaving behind over 36 injured.
Eyewitnesses said ration was being distributed among the IDPs when the blast took place near them, damaging camps and affected people inside their camps.
According to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), about 30 to 35 Kg explosives were used in the blast.
Three vehicles were also damaged in the severe blast.
After the incident, law enforcers and rescue teams reached on the site and shifted the injured to near-by hospitals.
Further investigations into the incident have been started
