CDA Welfare Committee petrol pump closed for long

A petrol pump of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Welfare Committee situated on Embassy Road in Sector G-6/4 has been shut sown for a quite some time and it seems there would be no end to the dispute any time soon.

The petrol pump was given on lease, and its income was used for the welfare of children of widows and poor employees.

According to sources, the petrol pump was given to a bureaucrat named Muhammad Ismail on lease.

After the bureaucrat’s lease expired, the welfare committee advertised in newspapers to lease out the petrol pump again but the former lessee appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to get the petrol pump on lease again.

When the SC decided in favour of the welfare committee, the latter it once again advertised for leasing it out in the newspapers. This time, the bureaucrat took a stay order against the lease from the federal ombudsman.

All employees and labourers of CDA appealed to the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to take a suo moto notice of the issue as the widows and orphans were suffering.
