Boeing 777 model at PIA disappears in thin air

A model of Boeing 777 installed next to the security guards deployed at PIA Lahore’s booking office has been missing for over 72 hours, Pakistan Today has learnt. It is alarming that someone made away with a sufficiently huge installment from the area which supposedly is monitored by CCTV cameras.

The PIA’s booking office is located adjacent to Assembly Chambers on the ground floor of PIA’s Lahore office opposite Falettis Hotel and is accessible to general public who frequent it for buying tickets.

The PIA’s security general manager, a retired army officer, has outsourced the security to a private agency, which is responsible for monitoring the entry and exit of all vehicles.

When contacted, PIA spokesperson Athar Awan termed the theft ‘a minor incident’, saying there were several models of airplanes in the PIA office and if one had been ‘misplaced’ it should not be made into an issue. “The PIA management does not deem it fit to register an FIR of this incident,” he told Pakistan Today, ruling out any security risks to the office.
