The Balochistan High Court (BHC) verdict on the provincial assembly’s speaker has been challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
A divisional bench of the BHC rejected an earlier notification by Balochistan Assembly Speaker Matiullah Agha regarding appointment of JUI-F’s Maulana Wasay as opposition leader and restored Nawabzada Tariq Magsi as the opposition leader in the provincial assembly.
A petitioner, challenging the BHC verdict, pleaded the apex court that Wasay be appointed as opposition leader in the provincial assembly.
Earlier on Wednesday, JUI-F’s provincial chief Senator Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani had said his party would challenge the BHC decision, adding it was their constitutional right to move the apex court over the issue.
