Pervez’s appointment as caretaker KP CM challenged

A writ petition was filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC), challenging the notification of appointment of Justice (r) Tariq Pervez as caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday.
Citing Article 207 of the constitution, the petitioner read Pervez could not hold the public office for two years after his retirement.
Pervez would take oath as the caretaker KP CM.
Tariq Pervez had also served as the caretaker KP governor during his term as the PHC chief justice (CJ). He was born in Peshawar on Feb 15, 1948. He had also served as the PHC Bar Association president in 1996.
He was appointed as the PHC CJ on April 5, 2005, and elevated to the Supreme Court in October 2009. He retired from that post on Feb 14.
