ECP issues directives for contestants

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued directives for the candidates with regard to upcoming elections.
As per these instructions, it has been made mandatory for the candidates to provide attested copies of CNIC, educational certificates and national tax number along with nomination papers.
According to ECP spokesman, each candidate can file five nomination papers along with proposer and seconder. However, it is essential that the proposer and seconder should be enrolled as voters in the constituency of the respective candidate.
Election fee amounting to Rs 4,000 has been fixed for the candidates contesting on National Assembly seat and Rs 2,000 for the candidates on provincial assembly seat. The candidates will be required to deposit the prescribed fee.
It has been made mandatory for the candidates to study Article 62 and 63 of the constitution. The candidate will be required to provide details of election expenses after 10 days of winning the election.
The election expenses limit has been fixed at Rs 1,500,000 for the candidate of National Assembly seat and Rs 1,000,000 for the candidate of provincial assembly.
