Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) has decided to challenge the nomination of Justice (r) Zahid Qurban Alvi as interim Sindh chief minister in the Supreme Court (SC), said a statement issued by the Functional House on Wednesday.
However, the final decision would be made in this regard after consultation with political allies, the statement added. PML-F have shown its reservations over nomination of Justice (r) Qurban Alvi as interim CM and claimed that he had close relations with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
“In the presence of PPP nominated caretaker CM, free and fair elections in Sindh province would not be possible,” PML-F claimed. “PPP always uses Justice (r) Qurban Alvi for its interest and the party also awarded him with attractive positions in its tenure which proved his nomination as Sindh CM as suspect,” said the PML-F spokesman.
“Qurban Alvi is still sitting Chairman of Sindh Zakat Council and he was appointed head of Tori Embankment Flood Commission by the government but he freed the people behind embankment breach which left thousands of people homeless during floods,” he said.
“Later, the SC took suo moto action against Tori embankment breach and identified the people behind this incident,” the spokesman said, adding that the PPP-led government then assigned him with designation of Sindh Land Commission Chairman which enabled the government in distribution of precious land amongst some blue-eyed persons.
“Alvi was also made inquiry head of Baldia Town Garment’s Factory blaze but the inquiry report of the incident could not be made public as yet,” he alleged, while adding that corruption which Alvi committed as Chairman Board of Governors for Law College is not concealed from us,” the spokesman further said.
