SHC directs Rangers DG to recover missing persons

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed Sindh Rangers director general to recover and produce four missing men allegedly picked up by rangers’ personnel during raids carried out in different parts of the city.
A division bench headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar issued notices to the home secretary, provincial police chiefs, rangers’ director general and other police officials in four separate petitions for missing persons and directed them to file comments by 4th April.
One of the petitioners namely Fakhrudin submitted that his 23-year-old son Arshad was picked up on 10th March from Usmanabad and his whereabouts were still unknown.
Petitioner Salman stated that his brother Zeeshan was picked up on 13th March by rangers’ officials from Lyari and later shifted him to an undisclosed location.
Furthermore, petitioner Amir Nawaz stated that his brother Shah Nawaz was taken away by rangers’ on 13th March during a raid at their house. He said that he had approached the Brigade Police Station for lodging an FIR in this regard, but the officials refused to do so.
Moreover, petitioner Muhammad Yameen submitted that his son Tahir was picked up by rangers’ personnel on 13th March from Lyari. The petitioners prayed before the court to direct the respondent officials to produce the missing persons in court.
