Lawyers across the country on Tuesday boycotted the courts to protest the attack on the Judicial Complex in Peshawar.
Four persons were killed while 47 others, including eight lawyers and six police officials, sustained injuries after two suicide bombers attacked the Judicial Complex on Monday.
The Pakistan Bar Association and provincial and district bar councils appealed the lawyers to go on strike to condemn the attack. Lawyers’ associations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab boycotted the court proceedings on Tuesday.
The lawyers boycotted the court proceedings and demanded that the government bring the terrorists to justice. Black flags were hoisted on the buildings of bar councils throughout the country.
Due to the closure of courts litigants faced difficulties.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court chief justice visited the Peshawar Judicial Complex. During the visit, he was briefed about the bombing. The lawyers said the attack was a security failure and the government had failed to protect them. They said lawyers faced continuous threats as they handle many sensitive cases and demanded fool proof security for themselves.
Police have registered a case against unidentified terrorists for the attack.
On the other hand, a threatening letter was received at the City Court Karachi due to which courts in Malir and other areas remained closed.
