Former president Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jehangir and former district Nazim Mian Amir Mehmood refused to accept any responsibility in the caretaker setup in Punjab.
Talking to media personnel in Lahore on Tuesday‚ Jehangir said she was grateful to PML-N and PPP for suggesting her name for the slot of caretaker premier and chief minister (CM). She said being nominated alone was a great honour for her, but added she would not accept any responsibility in the caretaker setup. She said she had no lust for any position and the issue of caretaker setup should be resolved through consultations.
She said in the past the country was being run by generals and now the judiciary had taken that role. She said it was not necessary that the judiciary run the country, adding that retired judges should rest at home.
Mian Amir also regretted to accept any position in the interim government owing to other engagements.
