Shahbaz apologises

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the repair work of the damaged houses at Joseph Colony was in progress and the construction will be completed before March 23. He said the nation condemned the reprehensible act committed against Christians and he once again apologised to Christians for the condemnable incident. Shahbaz was talking to the newsmen after inaugurating a repaired Church at Joseph Colony on Sunday. He said as many as 60 repaired houses had been handed over to the inhabitants so far.
He said punishment will be awarded to the elements involved in the incident so that no one could dare to indulge in such inhuman act in the future. He said that financial assistance of Rs five lakh per family had been paid to the affectees. The Chief Minister inaugurated the completion of the work of repair of houses and renovation of churches in Joseph Colony. Senators Pervaiz Rashid, Kamran Michael, Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Pervaiz Malik, Malik Riaz, members of the provincial assembly, commissioner and district coordination officer Lahore, officers of District Administration and leaders of Christian community were also present on the ocassion. Communication & Works Department secretary gave a briefing regarding rehabilitation work in Joseph Colony.
Shahbaz said Christian community had played a commendable role for the development of Pakistan and promotion of education. He said Christian had equal rights under the law and constitution of Pakistan and their protection was the responsibility of the state. He said that every Pakistani was grieved over the burning of houses in Joseph Colony. He said the provincial machinery was fully alert and rehabilitation work had immediately started in the colony. He said that 22 contractors and 400 labourers were participating in the rehabilitation work round the clock and besides 60 houses, two churches had also been repaired and renovated so far.

  1. If the authorities had as vigoursely persued the culprits as the rebuilding process with the CM name written on the slaab perhaps one would have congratulated the CM on the job well done. He has dealt with the conequence and not the cause. Memory is short, the world will move on and the mob will continue it,s activities after a pause. There is money to be made and votes to be won. I am glad he has used the word apology and not regret .

  2. Punjab's Thief Minister Shabaz Lohar is an hypocrite and I don't buy claim that construction will done by March 23rd,if they have building inspectors,they should check the buildings before poor Christens who lost everything move in.
