At least four people were killed and 30 others injured when militants stormed into the Peshawar’s judicial complex and opened firing and attacked with hand grenades followed by suicide attack, officials said on Monday.
Khyber Pakhtonkhwa information minister Mian Iftikhar told reporters that three officials were killed in the blast.
“There was an impression that militants had been holed up inside with hostages, but police have said that they have killed the militant.”
Hussain added that that the bombers had planned this very well. “Even if you have very tight security, they planned to get around it.”
“Security has been improved and will continue to be improved but these incidents will continue to happen, and the twenty days leading up to elections will see more activity” Hussain said. “These terrorists have managed to get into GHQ, Naval base and police training centres. These terrorists are everywhere but we will persevere.”
“They have not yet found success. Some incidents will continue to happen, and we have to mentally prepare for this.”
CCPO Peshawar said that two militants attacked the complex and tried to enter the room of an additional session judge.
Security forces cordon off the complex and shot dead second attacker, CCPO added.
Rescue teams rushed at the spot and shifted the injured to Lady Ready Hospital.
Troops have also reached at the site while police conducted search operation.
Hospital officials said that the over 30 injured included woman Additional Session Judge Kalsoom Azam, ASI, several other cops, lawyers and civilians.
