Family members of the 26-year-old wife of Islamabad police ASI who was allegedly killed by her husband on Monday appealed to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to arrest the killer.

According to details, Asma Jamshaid, wife of serving ASI Muhammad Ashraf, was allegedly killed by her husband and his friends in Khushab 11 months ago.

Ashraf, along with his cousin Haq Nawaz, a serving constable of Islamabad Police and an FIA employee, Farooq had allegedly burnt Asma with acid and set the dead body on fire. They then proceeded to bury the body.

Asma’s mother, Irshad Beghun told reporters that Ahsraf had married her daughter by cheating and fraud as he already had two wives. He had kept that information from her when he contracted marriage.

She said that when Asma found out about Ashraf’s deception, a violent conflict ensued between the couple where he began beating his wife on a daily basis and also forcibly feeding alcohol to her. Asma then asked for divorce when she was six months pregnant.
