After quitting of Member National Assemly (MNA) Nabeel Gabol from the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) as he was denied a party ticket to contest the general elections, another PPP senior leader from Sindh is likely to quit the same party as it is unlikely that he will be issued a party ticket, Pakistan Today has learnt.
The PPP leadership was finalising the list of candidates who would contest the upcoming general elections and interestingly the member of the PPP ticket committee was unlikely to get the ticket. Neither the PPP leader nor his siblings would get the ticket due to multiple reasons, sources privy to the development told Pakistan Today.
Sources said that Sindh Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq was in war with the Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali, and several others from the PPP leadership that brought him bad reputation.
However, recently the education minister had developed serious difference with President Asif Zardari’s sister, namely MNA Faryal Talpur, over recruitment of teachers in the province, the sources added.
The issue resurfaced when Pir Mazhar refused to give appointment orders of Sindhi Language Teachers (SLTs) to MNA Faryal as was earlier agreed upon. However, the education minister distributed the orders to his blue-eyed nominees and allegedly even received cash in return.
The blind sale of jobs resulted in the recruitment of more than 6,000 ineligible people who were issued job letters against the actual vacancies of 1,300. Meanwhile, the education minister refused to listen to anything that MNA Faryal or the CM had to say, while the two had restricted and warned the minister many times not to make such large-scale recruitments, the sources disclosed.
The tug of war resulted in the appointment of President Asif’s brother-in-law Dr Fazaullah Pechuho as secretary education and on which the education minister approached President Asif to intervene and resolve the matter.
However, the sidelined minister and secretary education initiated a high-level probe into the alleged fake recruitments of SLTs by the minister. It was expected that the inquiry report would be published by the education department in the caretaker period so as to expose the performance of Pir Mazhar in alleged fake recruitments of teachers.
Pakistan Today tried to approach secretary education Dr Fazaullah to seek his comments but his cell phone remained unattended.
This so-called journalist may be liable for a defamation case after posting baseless piece of news based on pure LIES just to malign some politicians. The liffafa journalist seems to be obviously working on someone's agenda and one can observe this by his reading his previous news items. I am surprised that this news paper Pakistan Today is allowing this kind of yellow journalism, intended to intentionally malign a personality, this news has not been posted anywhere and has no credibility yet it was allowed to be posted here without any verification. A complaint has been lodged against this person, and I hope the newspaper will take action before someone proceeds with a slander/defamation lawsuit against this company for making false statements to malign individuals
