Shahzeb murder case adjourned over reservations on new prosecutor

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday adjourned hearing of Shahzeb Khan’s murder case till Monday, due to reservations of the plaintiff DSP Orangzaib regarding the prosecutor in the case.
Earlier, the government had replaced the special public prosecutor with a man who belonged to the native town of the main accused namely Sikander Jatoi.
Special Public Prosecutor Shahid Arain was asked to leave the charge immediately. Shahid had been directed to hand over all files and records to the newly appointed prosecutor Muzaffar Solangi who belonged to Jatoi’s village.
Shahzeb’s father Aurangzeb Khan and Investigation Officer Mobeen have expressed serious concerns over the decision. They said that the new prosecutor’s link to the accused and his access to sensitive record could undermine the trial.
