The traders of Sabzi Mandi blocked the Super Highway and held a protest demonstration with the dead body of trader on Sunday after unknown gunmen opened fire and killed a driver of a vegetable laden vehicle.
According to details, unidentified armed assailants shot at and killed Abdul Ghafoor who was the driver of the vegetable laden Suzuki van late on Saturday night.
The murder triggered a strong protest from the traders, truck drivers and shopkeepers, who staged a sit-in by placing the body of the deceased driver Abdul Ghafoor on the Super Highway and blocked all traffic moving up and down between the city, thus forcing a long queue of loaded trucks, passenger buses and all sorts of vehicles to be formed in the area.
However after assurance of action against the perpetrators by the officials concerned, the traders ended their sit-in protest after which the flow of traffic was restored.
