Malik urges world to support Pakistan in war on terror

Interior Minister Rehman Malik urged the world on Saturday to help Pakistan in its war against terrorism. Addressing the function he had hosted in the honour of foreign ambassadors and high commissioners in Islamabad ‚ he said he had broken the backbone of terrorists and the latter had been forced to resolve issues via talks.
He said 9/11 was the beginning of a third world war which had badly affected Pakistan‚ Afghanistan‚ Bangladesh‚ Libya‚ Syria and other parts of the world.
Interior Minister thanked the United States‚ Britain‚ Canada and Australia for providing equipment and training facilities to enhance the capacity of the Pakistani security forces.
Speaking on the occasion‚ Minister for State for Foreign Affairs Nawabzada Malik Ammad urged for collective efforts of the world community to address the issue of terrorism. Talking to newsmen ‚ the interior minister said the backbone of terrorists had been broken as security forces had carried out a successful operation against them. He said only 15 to 20 people were wanted in Karachi and hoped that they would be arrested soon.
Referring to various steps taken by the Interior Ministry during the last five years‚ the interior minister said law enforcement agencies had been made more vibrant and capable with the training of personnel inside the country.
Rehman Malik said he was grateful to the support and cooperation extended by all intelligence agencies. He lauded the help of ISI in information sharing with the Interior Ministry. Rehman Malik said that the army, especially the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani had helped in nurturing democracy in the country.
He told a questioner that the menace of terrorism would be overcome with the passage of anti-terrorism bill.
