Sindh Rangers on Sunday claimed to have arrested Qari Abdul Hai alias Asadullah, former Ameer of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ) Sindh chapter, from Karachi.
Rangers told reporters that Hai, who was also involved in American journalist Daniel Pearl’s murder, was arrested during a raid at University Road area of the city. The accused was also wanted in different incidents of terrorism since 1994.
“The accused also planned to attack American troops at Karachi airport in December 2012 but postponed the attack after his associate Asif Ramzi was killed,” sources said.
Moreover, Rangers said Hai was also involved in sending bomb parcels to Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials.
