At least five persons were killed and several others injured in a road accident and some other violent incidents in various areas of the metropolis on Saturday. According to police, unknown armed motorcyclists gunned a man down in Saeedabad area of Baldia Town and fled the scene. The body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem. Another man was shot at and killed on the spot near Garden Zoo by some unknown miscreants. In another incident, three people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a truck and a jeep in Shershah on Hub River Road.
According to rescue sources, the bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to a civil hospital. The hospital sources said the injured include three children who were in critical condition. In yet another incident, three people including two women died and four children injured in collision between a double cabin jeep and a truck in Shershah area. The deceased and the injured belonged to a same family. Meanwhile, firing incidents were reported from different areas of Karachi wherein eight persons were injured who were later shifted to various hospitals of concerned areas.
During targeted search operation in different areas of the mega city, the police and Rangers nabbed 60 accused and recovered arms, explosives and drugs from their possession.
