Pakistan future tennis hope Samir Iftikhar has reached 103 rank of NCAA national singles and proved asset for his University of New Mexico lobos winning crucial matches at Number 1 Position.
The hectic NCAA Inter varsity Tennis season is in full swing and UNM lobos are playing BYU in Salt Lake city. UNM Lobos edged out University of Arizona 4/3 where at 3 matches each, Samir won a 3 set decider marathon 6-4 5 7 6 4 to give University of New Mexico Lobos (4-3) victory over Ask Fredrick of University of Arizona Wild Cats at their home grounds at Tuscon Arizona.
His coach and former Davis Cupper Tayyab Iftikhar said ”I am very pleased on Samr’s achievement for breaking into top 103# NCAA ranking which he achieved by beating much higher NCAA ranked players in Inter varsity. I hope it will catch eye of PTF and they will try to get sponsorship from for him.
He further said that in the upcoming Davis Cup tie against New Zealand, Pakistan has 50 50 chances but I strongly believe that since the tie is being played on grass courts, Pakistan can surprise the New Zealanders.
