PTI moves ECP against Shahbaz’s misuse of public funds for publicity

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has moved the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against misuse of public money by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Punjab government for media advertisements in sheer violation of the ECP’s code of conduct.
PTI leader Ishaq Khan Khakwani, in a letter sent to ECP Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, on Saturday, pleaded that ECP’s directions were being blatantly violated by the Punjab government in the form of an advertisement that claims Shahbaz Sharif had saved resources of the Punjab government in a solid waste management project.
Terming the advertisement a violation of the ECP code of conduct, Khakwani said it was a bid by the PML-N to get political mileage on the taxpayers’ money.
The PTI leader added it had been proven once again that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was misusing public money for his personal publicity in violation of the ECP’s rules.
Khakwani said the ECP had categorically instructed all political parties not to use public money for their publicity and requested the ECP to take immediate action against the violators.
