A division bench of the Lahore High Court Thursday allowing an intra court appeal by Pakistan Agriculture Storage & Services Corporation (PASSCO) permitted to sale 400,000 metric tonnes of wheat. The division bench comprising Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Justice Ayesha A Malik was hearing the ICA filed by PASSCO against the sale of 400,000 metric tonne passed by a LHC single bench. Earlier, the appellant’s counsel Tabanda Islam arguing before the court submitted that Passco advertised in the media for the sale of 400,000 metric tonnes wheat on January 18, 2013 from stocks of 2010 and 2011 pursuant to Cabinets’ Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) decision. She submitted that the ECC decided to sale wheat to check rising trends of flour. However, a LHC single bench set aside the impugned wheat sale being illegal on a petition filed by Socio Legal Anchors Foundation, she added.
