Indian government was reported to have cancelled the Pakistan-India hockey series scheduled to be held next month, Indian media reports said Friday.
Sources said the souring diplomatic ties forced India’s foreign ministry to take this decision.
Pakistan’s hockey team was to tour India in a five match series, the first such tour between the two countries in 7 years. But recent events along the Pak-India border have led to further strain in the relationship between the two countries.
Pakistan and India last played a bilateral hockey series in 2006 – three matches in each country. Pakistan won three and lost one while the remaining two were drawn.
India had earlier suspended all sporting ties with Pakistan after the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai
