Waqas Akram joins PML-N

The PML-Q faced another setback on Thursday when its firebrand leader and federal minister Waqas Akram announced leaving the party for rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

Federal Education Minister Waqas Akram met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at PML-N secretariat.

After a lengthy meeting, Waqas announced his decision to join the PML-N.

Talking to reporters, he said he quit his party on principles as the Q-league was not delivering and severing the nation but enjoying the rule.

Waqas said he had differences with Q-league leadership and he had exposed corruption cases even while in alliance with the PPP government.

He thanked the PML-N leadership for giving him space in their party, saying Nawaz Sharif was the only leader who could save and protect the country.

Waqas said he would do everything in his power to make a better Pakistan together with the PML-N.

Shahbaz welcomed Waqas, saying every clean man would be welcomed in the party.

The CM said Waqas did not have any corruption allegations against him, adding that it was the right of every leader to choose the right party.

The PML-Q is likely to lose two more key members as Faisal Saleh Hayat and Riaz Fatiyana are also likely to join the PML-N.
